Chido + Padre’s, the Baja-Mex restaurant and tequila bar promising Buckhead a “fiesta forever”, will open on Tuesday, March 13. This latest restaurant from Southern Proper Hospitality (Big Ketch, Tin Lizzy’s, Gypsy Kitchen) will replace their recently shuttered Smoke Belly BBQ.
The group says Chido + Padre’s “will celebrate Mexico’s fresh, coastal cuisine”. However, the fiesta will likely begin for most patrons next door at the cocktail and tequila bar called The Bandida Bar. The main dining room and bar (under the watchful eye of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo) is apparently separated by a chain link fence.
The kitchen is lead by executive chef Jonathan Mercado who has worked stints at Atlanta restaurants such as Rosa Mexicano, True Foods Kitchen, and Bartaco. Mercado’s menu includes familiar dishes like quesadillas, fajitas, and tostadas. A few dishes on the menu will tip their hat to Mexico’s coastline like the campechana (seafood cocktail) with rock shrimp, fish-of-the-day, mango, avocado, and coconut rice or the chicken mole with cabbage slaw, black beans, and sesame seeds.
Margarita lovers will be pleased to know there are six to choose from; including one made with hibiscus-infused tequila.
