The Florida restaurant chain Hawkers Asian Street Fare is opening in November at Studioplex in the Old Fourth Ward. The menu is based on dishes often found at “hawkers” or Asian street food stalls.
The 4500-square-foot restaurant includes a Beltline-facing patio with retractable doors and a large indoor/outdoor bar. The design will incorporate salvaged architectural items from around Atlanta and murals by local street artists throughout the restaurant.
The Atlanta-based Studio SOGO is handling the design—the firm that designed Grindhouse Killer Burgers in Grant Park, Folk Art in Inman Park, and the Grant Park Market.

Expect a mix of dishes like roti with Malaysian curry, pad thai, Korean twice fried wings, and miso ramen on the menu at Hawkers. Some of the restaurant’s dishes come from family recipes, such as the Singapore ‘chili’ crab—soft-shell crab, chili garlic sauce, fried bao bun— and the royal pairing— durian (native Thai fruit) crème brûlée with mangosteen compote.
The bar menu includes cocktails on tap along with beer, wine, and sake.
