OK Yaki Is Leaving Sun in My Belly

Their residency ends June 15

OK Yaki

Japanese street food outlet OK Yaki will end its collaboration with Sun in My Belly this week. The final OK Yaki in My Belly Pop-Up runs tomorrow night.

Part of this departure stems from summer’s arrival. Ok Yaki owner Corban Irby said Kirkwood slows down at this time of year and that their equipment is making the restaurant too hot. Irby will shift his focus to Thursday pop-ups at Ria’s Bluebird, where OK Yaki can work with a full kitchen. He’s also scoping out locations for OK Yaki’s forthcoming brick-and-mortar space.

Meanwhile, Sun in My Belly will host pop-up events. The relationship between OK Yaki and Sun in My Belly isn’t ending, though — OK Yaki will appear at the Kirkwood spot from time to time.

“Partnering with Corban Irby and his team has been such a unique experience and we’ve had the chance to try out different service styles and components that we do not typically find ourselves working in,” says Sun in My Belly via their Facebook page.

OK Yaki’s final pop-ups at Sun in My Belly are tonight and June 15 at 6:00.
