DOWNTOWN: The iconic and perpetually packed Busy Bee Cafe is opening a second location next year, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The new location is located at 111 Trinity Avenue in downtown Atlanta—around the corner from City Hall and the state capitol. Busy Bee, which opened in 1947 at 810 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive SW, is known for its crispy fried chicken and comforting sides of mac n’ cheese, cornbread dressing, and collard greens. The new 200-seat downtown outpost includes the addition of dishes like gravy-topped hashbrowns made from the cafe’s cornbread dressing, breakfast, and a cocktail menu.
DECATUR: In celebration of its 21st birthday on Wednesday, June 27, Decatur’s Brick Store Pub says they’ll be giving away “an epic amount of glassware” from their cellar. Brick Store also plans to have 21 rare and one-off beers on draught, serve a low-country boil as well as ice cream beer floats, and will ring their bell at 9 p.m. to toast the 21 years they’ve been in business.
ATLANTA/ATHENS: Beginning Monday, June 25 through Sunday, July 1, all Taqueria del Sol locations along with Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q and its Que’osk on Ottley Drive will feature tacos with smoked brisket and guajillo-tamarind barbecue sauce for $3. Proceeds from each taco sale will go to benefit Hogs for a Cause, which raises money for pediatric brain cancer research.
