The Plate Sale’s Mike and Shyretha Sheats, formerly of Staplehouse, begin their June takeover of Gato in Candler Park starting Friday, June 8 through Sunday, July 1. The dinner series replaces Georgian Thai pop-up Talat Market this month while chef-owner Parnass Lim Savang and his team head to Thailand for a little research and development on their upcoming restaurant in Summerhill.
Mike serves as the Plate Sale’s chef while Shyretha serves as its beverage director. The couple host dinners throughout Atlanta and Athens—where they now live—at restaurants like Octopus Bar, A Mano, and B’s Cracklin’ Barbecue.
The Sheats will offer an a la carte menu at Gato similar to their other pop-up dinners which could include catfish, hushpuppies, grilled duck with Southern style mop sauce, and Tuskegee (peanut) soup.
Like Gato’s other pop-up restaurants, the Plate Sale is BYOB and seats are first come, first served. However, non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase.

Talat Market returns to Gato on July 6 to finish out its tenure. The Thai pop-up goes dark after service on August 31 so Savang and chef Rod Lassiter can focus on opening Talat Market’s permanent location. No word as to what will replace Talat Market at Gato.
Gato is a breakfast and lunch spot by day and weekend restaurant incubator by night. Former pop-ups include chef Jarrett Stieber’s Eat Me Speak Me and chef Allen Suh’s Gato Arigato.
The Plate Sale at Gato, Friday - Sunday, June 8 - July 1, 6 p.m. to 10 pm.
