Craft beer and wine shop Hop City is heading south to Fayette County’s new planned community Pinewood Forest. Owner Kraig Torres hopes to capitalize on Georgia’s growing film and television industry by opening a fourth Atlanta location in the development located across from the state’s largest film production studio, Pinewood Movie Studios. In addition to Hop City, Torres plans to open a second outpost of his Alpharetta-based restaurant Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar.
The shop (with 85 rotating taps), restaurant, and adjacent beer garden will cover nearly 5500-square-feet and should open in late 2019.
“We are thrilled to join the growing community over at Pinewood Forest,” Torres says in the press release. “We are captivated by the concept of a neighborhood built next to the largest production studio in the Southeast.”
Twelve restaurants are eventually planned for Pinewood Forest. Braise was announced earlier this year for the community’s Village Square. That restaurant, serving a menu mixed with European, New American, and Asian influences, is lead by chef Tanya Jimenez and her husband and fellow chef Michael Le.
Hop City has two other Atlanta locations in Westside and Krog Street Market. A third Hop City is opening in the Lee + White complex in the historic West End next door to Monday Night Brewing’s Garage.
