The Midtown location of New York City’s wildly-popular restaurant chain The Halal Guys is set to open in September, the Atlanta Business Chronicle is reporting. The Halal Guys joins chef Jason Liang and John Chen’s (Brush Sushi Izakaya) Japanese fast-casual restaurant Momonoki and its coffee shop Momo Cafe in Modera Midtown at 95 8th Street.
But, the expansion news for local The Halal Guys franchise owner Moynul Chowdhury doesn’t end there. Chowdhury says he’s planning to open a Duluth location in the Kroger shopping plaza at 3455 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near the corner of Peacthree Industrial and Pleasant Hill Road. And, he’s eyeing three other possible locations for The Halal Guys in Buckhead, Battery Atlanta, and Kennesaw.
The Halal Guys opened their first restaurant in Atlanta on Buford Highway in January 2017. Long lines are still not an unusual occurrence there. Chowdhury is hoping to replicate that enthusiasm in Midtown and Duluth.
The restaurant chain began as a food cart in Manhattan in 1990 and serves Halal food prepared in accordance to Islamic law. The Halal Guys is known for its chicken and gyro platter served over rice.
Eater Atlanta has reached out to Chowdhury for more details.
