Old school diners club Golden Eagle on Memorial Drive in Reynoldstown is celebrating the life and musical legacy of the legendary Aretha Franklin tonight. The restaurant is honoring the memory of the “Queen of Soul”, who died today at the age of 76, with an “All Aretha, All Night” playlist throughout happy hour and dinner service.
“Music is a huge part of our identity at Golden Eagle, particularly musical genres like soul, gospel, R&B, and funk from the late 1950s through the early 1970s,” owner Michael Lennox says. “Aretha cast an incredibly long shadow on music (and the American songbook) over this period so, we felt like highlighting the first half of her career would be a fitting way to pay our respects.”
Golden Eagle opens for dinner at 5 p.m.
