Neighbor’s Pub in Virginia-Highland is taking over the former Hand in Hand space on North Highland with immediate plans to expand their patio. Hand in Hand English pub shuttered after 18 years in the neighborhood last month.
Construction on the patio expansion began Wednesday. Neighbor’s plans to reopen the newly-expanded outdoor space in time for the start of college football over Labor Day weekend. The expansion will double the size of Neighbor’s current patio, which is a popular gathering place for nearby residents and their dogs.
The interior of Hand in Hand is also under construction. However, a representative for Neighbor’s did not provide further details on what they have planned for the space; only that it will open next spring.
“We’re very excited for the opportunity to expand our concept into the new space and provide more for our guests, especially in time for football season and the fall,” Neighbor’s COO Jessica Ramsey says. “While it is bittersweet to see our neighbor close, we are looking forward to providing more for the community.”
Neighbor’s Pub also owns the Dark Horse Tavern down the road on North Highland.
