Honeysuckle Gelato is opening a second location in Pinewood Forest; the 234-acre, mixed-use development in the city of Fayetteville south of Atlanta. The shop should open next fall in the new community’s town center. Pinewood Forest is located across from Georgia’s largest movie studio, Pinewood Atlanta.
Honeysuckle Gelato, owned by Wes Jones, Jackson Smith, and Khatera Ballard, began life as a food truck before opening a stall in Ponce City Market’s food hall in 2015. The shop serves Southern spins on the Italian ice cream with flavors like bourbon pecan praline, brown butter crunch, and lemon raspberry crumble. Honeysuckle also offers seasonal flavors and sorbets and donates five percent of its profits to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. The partners say they will continue with the donations at the Pinewood Forest shop.
“We’ll introduce what makes Honeysuckle Gelato unique and experiment with new offerings, though more than anything, we’re eager to contribute to an incredible community that celebrates diversity and creativity,” partner Wes Jones says of the Pinewood Forest shop in a prepared statement.
Honeysuckle Gelato joins chefs Tanya Jimenez and Michael Le and their restaurant Braise and craft beer shop Hop City and the second location of their Alpharetta-based restaurant Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar at Pinewood Forest.
