Shake Shack is moving forward with the construction of its Old Fourth Ward restaurant in the Edge complex on the Eastside BeltLine, What Now Atlanta reports. This latest Shack is opening in 2019 and is the third location of the burger chain in Atlanta. Shake Shack also has restaurants in Buckhead and the Perimeter.
Shake Shack-O4W is tapping into Atlanta’s local food resources, with proceeds from select menu items benefiting local charities. A representative for Shake Shack tells Eater Atlanta the menu includes all of its classics like the ShackBurger, crinkle fries, and shakes. But, in addition to its regular items, the O4W restaurant is offering a selection of locally-made frozen custards. No other details were provided on who is partnering with the Shack on the frozen treats or the other local food purveyors and charities included in future partnerships.
Local design firm Smith Hanes is planning a more green approach to the Shack’s O4W interior, using recycled and sustainable materials. Booths for the restaurant includes lumber from the Forest Stewardship Council, while table tops are being created from reclaimed bowling alley lanes. An outdoor patio is also planned as well as an art installation from a local artist.
The Shack is tight-lipped to say much more about what’s in store for its O4W location.
Shake Shack joins chef Kevin Gillespie’s BeltLine-facing beer garden Cold Beer and all-day cafe and wine bar Hazel Jane’s at the Edge. The Edge will feature apartments, restaurants, and retail, and is located just beyond the Edgewood Avenue bridge along the BeltLine.
