The rumors are indeed true. Bar Crema, the Italian coffee shop once located in Buckhead’s East Andrews complex, is back open at the Pinewood in Decatur. While now open for coffee, the shop’s official grand (re)opening day is officially scheduled for Saturday, August 11.
Bar Crema and its mobile coffee cart are located in the lounge of Pinewood’s expanded dining room next door to the bar near the windows. The reimagined Bar Crema is the brainchild of long-time Atlanta barista and general manager Carl Caballes. Caballes started as a barista at the original Bar Crema in Buckhead and became the assistant general manager prior to its closure in April.
“Carl tossed the idea out during a meeting about Bar Crema coffee at the Pinewood, and we let him run with it,” co-owner Julian Goglia says. “Carl has been with us since we opened Bar Crema and was super important to that coffee shop and now he’s here with us at the Pinewood.”

Espresso, blended drip coffee, pour overs, and single origin roasts from Counter Culture Coffee are on the menu, along with a selection of tea and Georgia’s Montane sparkling waters. Pastries are eventually planned for the coffee shop from resident bartender, barista, and, apparently, mighty fine baker Ben Pham. Pham has some other “unique surprises” in store, too. Word is Bar Crema’s popular gelato may be on the menu at some point; although on a much smaller scale than in Buckhead.
The shop is open daily at 8 a.m., seven days a week.
