It may be pumpkin spice latte (PSL) season, but it’s basically still summer in Atlanta with September temperatures hovering around 90 degrees. Popsicle purveyor Steel City Pops in Decatur is here for those [way too early] PSL cravings and just dropped a menu containing all the flavors of fall in frozen form.
Steel City’s latest menu features 28 flavors, including the modern-day essence of fall popularized by Starbucks, pumpkin spice. Although, the popsicle is described as pumpkin pie. They’re not fooling anyone.
In addition to the pumpkin (spice) pop, there’s camp fire favorite, toasted marshmallow, and the now seemingly old fashioned flavors, cranberry orange and carrot cake. Popsicles can be dipped in chocolate, dusted with cinnamon or nutmeg, or covered in toppings like pecans or pistachios. Vegan, dairy free, and gluten free frozen treats are also available.
Like Atlanta’s original popsicle-maker, King of Pops, which is currently carrying seasonal flavors such as caramel latte and banana cinnamon on its menu, Steel City’s frozen confections are handmade in small batches and all-natural.
The Birmingham-based company opened its first shop in Homewood, Alabama — a suburb of Birmingham — in 2012. Steel City has 23 locations throughout the Southeast.
