Mr. C’s Bar and Grille [Official]

Dive bar Mr. C’s Bar and Grill on Howell Mill Road has come under fire for posting a message on its outdoor sign reading “Ruin UR Future Supreme Court Chances Here,” Buckhead Patch reports.

The sign is a reference to Christine Blasey Ford’s sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh; Congress heard testimony on the allegations Thursday. The message has since been removed.

Mr. C’s signs often employ dark humor and are usually benign in nature. Not this time. Many posters on social media saw the message as insensitive, misogynistic, and dismissive of Ford and victims of sexual harassment and assault. Several commenters called out the bar for making a “rape joke” and “promoting sexual assault.”

The AJC also reports that the crowd-sourcing review site Yelp is now monitoring the bar’s business page and has posted an active cleanup alert, saying they would “remove both positive and negative posts that appear to be motivated more by the news coverage” and not by real customer experiences.

Eater Atlanta has reached out to Mr. C’s for comment on the sign.
