Rainbow Natural Foods in Decatur closing
Decatur health food shop Rainbow Natural Foods is closing after 42 years, Decaturish reports. The deli, natural foods market, and its popular hot bar, located at North Decatur Plaza on North Decatur Road, plans to shutter in February. Owners Jim Emerson and Tony Castaldi, who opened the business in 1976, are retiring. [Decaturish]
Krog Street Market owners purchase Midtown Promenade complex
Charlotte-based Asana Partners, owners of Krog Street Market, just purchased the Midtown Promenade complex on Monroe Drive in Midtown, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The Promenade is home to Trader Joe’s and the Midtown Art Cinema as well as popular restaurants like MetroFresh, Apres Diem, The Highlander, and Desi Spice Indian. For the past two years, the complex hosted holiday pop-up bar Miracle on Monroe at Tapa Tapa. Asana purchased Krog Street Market near the Eastside Beltline in April 2018 from Paces Properties and also owns the complex in which chef Kevin Gillespie’s Gunshow resides in Glenwood Park as well as Plaza on Ponce. The latter, home to The Righteous Room and Plaza Theatre, is undergoing a massive renovation to include two new restaurants by departing Gunshow chef Joey Ward and new locations of Queen of Cream and Jinya Ramen.
