Citizen Supply Marketplace Opens a Modern Take on the Department Store Cafe

Likewise Eatery and Bar opens inside Citizen Supply — a 12,000-square-foot marketplace on the second floor of Ponce City Market — on Friday, January 25. Think the department store cafes and restaurants of yesteryear. To celebrate, the new in-store restaurant is throwing a Friday night party from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. with drinks, food, raffle prizes, and tunes spun by DJ Esmé.

Citizen Supply wants Likewise to be an “approachable hang-out” for shoppers to dine and drink while perusing its rotating batch of independent brands, vintage products, and artists.

The menu for Likewise, created by chef Jason Jimenez (Kitchen Six, Homespun), is filled with “nostalgic Southern classics” and small bites, like a pimento grilled cheese with bread and butter pickles. Ben Richardson (Staplehouse, H. Harper Station) is behind the bar serving cocktails, such as the vodka and apertivo-based Cats and Dogs with grapefruit topped with fizzy water or the Eastwood consisting of bourbon, vermouth, sherry, and amaro.

In addition to the 20-seat bar, Likewise also offers 25 seats in its lounge area.

“We’re looking forward to adding a new element to the Citizen Supply space where guests can experience this unique environment and hang out over great food and drinks,” Jimenez says in a prepared statement. “Citizen Supply is already known for curating great local and global brands, and we’re excited to further this through our intentionally sourced menu.”
