Marietta’s The Red Eyed Mule is back in business at its new location on South Marietta Parkway. The restaurant known for its biscuits and burgers — one of which is Food Network star Alton Brown’s favorite — reopened Wednesday morning in a former Huddle House, three miles from the original location on Church Street Extension. It now seats over 60 people, doubling in size from its predecessor.
The restaurant received a good cleaning, a fresh coat of paint (both inside and out,) and a few updates to the chairs and bar stools. Decor from the former location fill the walls and the outside includes a covered walkway — likely a welcome addition to the Mule for the lines which typically form on weekend mornings.

Owners Sabra Wessel and Joseph Wood announced the closure of their nearly decade-old restaurant in December after the landlord, who happens to own a similar restaurant next door, did not renew their lease. Wessel and Wood were given until the end of the year to vacate the property and find a new location. The pair posted their relocation dilemma to Facebook, prompting regulars and fans to weigh in with suggestions for the Mule’s new home — one of those being the former Huddle House.
