Remember the news about Candytopia — the over-the-top, sugar-coated, Instagrammable art exhibit opening in Buckhead? The multi-room, confectionary paradise is currently under construction at Edens Lenox Marketplace across from Phipps Plaza on Peachtree Street. It opens February 8.
The edible art installation, co-founded by Jackie Sorkin (owner of a candy-themed LA events company and star of TLC’s Candy Queen!,) retail businessman John Goodman, and events and production designer Zac Hartog, has seen the likes of A-list celebs such as Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow breeze through its dozen, saccharine-laden rooms in Santa Monica, San Fransisco, and New York.
The interactive candy experience offers visitors dips in a foam marshmallow pit, augmented reality technology via a mobile app to capture those special moments, and art depicting local landmarks and celebrities bedecked in various candies and sweets. Visitors to the life-sized Candy Land partake in samples while strolling through exhibits like a hammerhead shark created from 11,800 pieces of candy or a dragon made from 360-pounds of gummies.
No word as to which Atlanta landmarks and celebs will be featured at Candytopia-ATL. Here’s hoping for the Pink Trap House and Stone Mountain, and maybe a T.I. or Killer Mike sighting.
