Weed-themed sandwich shop Cheba Hut could bring its “toasted” subs to the Marietta Street Artery in a new apartment complex called Theory, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. Theory is located between Boss Street and Bankhead Avenue near the post office on Marietta Street.
The Arizona-based chain, with the motto “Great tasting food. A very specific counterculture,” has been eyeing properties in Midtown, on the Westside, and in areas around the Old Fourth Ward to open three Atlanta shops.
It now seems that first confirmed location lands on Marietta Street. A lease for an undisclosed second location may have been signed earlier this year in the Old Fourth Ward.

Cheba Hut’s menu includes a variety of meat-filled and vegetarian subs like the Apollo 13 with grilled chicken, garlic butter, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, and spring mix topped with Greek dressing, the vegetable-laden Power Plant with guacamole, hummus, and feta cheese, and the 5-0 containing smoked ham, salami, prosciutto, pepperoni, bacon, giardiniera, and cheddar. Subs come in three sizes: four-inch “nug,” an eight-inch “pinner,” and a 12-inch “blunt.”
A category called “munchies” offers everything from loaded nachos and garlic cheese bread to Rice Krispie treats and brownies. Cheba Hut also includes a full bar with drinks such as the Dirty Hippie with vodka and lemonade and a PBR and orange juice-based Brass Monkey.
Atlanta entertainment lawyer Josh Burdick and Justin Beatty, beverage manager for Lure seafood restaurant in Midtown, are the franchisees behind the Atlanta Cheba Hut locations.
