Soccer-centric bar and restaurant Hudson FC International Sports Pub closes Sunday, October 20, after only two years in Brookhaven, a representative confirms to Eater Atlanta.
Hudson FC took over the former Pub 71 space in August 2017 in hopes of becoming home base for Atlanta United fans and a place for people to catch an early morning international soccer match on TV.
“We can confirm that Hudson FC will be closing this Sunday, October 20 after two great years of service. We feel that while the restaurant was successful and became a home for Atlanta United and all soccer fans, it was not an ideal location for a soccer bar,” Metrotainment CEO Jeff Landau says. “We are actively looking for a new location for Hudson FC, and in the meantime we encourage our regulars to continue the watch parties at Hudson Grille - Brookhaven.”
When questioned further on the reason for the closure, Landau clarified that slow service on non-game days wasn’t a factor, but declined to provide more details on the decision. He credits Atlanta United fans and the Chelsea FC supporter group for regularly filling the pub to capacity. As for reopening elsewhere, Landau says the group continues to “assess” locations around the city [Atlanta].
Hudson FC falls under the Metrotainment Cafes umbrella, which also owns Hudson Grille, Joe’s on Juniper, and Einstein’s. The group closed longtime LGBTQ restaurant and bar Cowtipper’s Steaks and Spirits in December after more than 25 years on Piedmont Avenue.
