Flying out of busy concourse C at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in the mornings might be more tolerable with the arrival of Krispy Kreme and its hot glazed doughnuts and coffee.
While there are two Dunkin’ locations at Hartsfield, Atlanta really is a Krispy Kreme kind of town.
The Krispy Kreme kiosk is part of a new (and long-awaited) food court with a seating area on the concourse. It joins Saladworks and Great Wraps. Atlanta chef Shaun Doty’s fried chicken restaurant, Bantam + Biddy, was to open earlier there this month, but it seems that opening has been delayed by a couple of weeks. Minnesota-based quick-serve Asian chain Leeann Chin is also expected to open soon at the concourse C food court.
Krispy Kreme first opened 82 years ago in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, serving its signature glazed yeast-raised doughnuts. There are now over 1,000 Krispy Kreme locations throughout the United States and the world, including ten shops in metro Atlanta.
Shaquille O’Neal bought the 64-year-old Krispy Kreme on Ponce as part of a 2016 franchise deal the basketball legend struck with the doughnut chain. It’s the only Krispy Kreme in Atlanta with a 24-hour drive-thru window.
