Siblings Anita Hsu and Howard Hsu, the owners behind Sweet Auburn BBQ on North Highland, open Amar Bien at the forthcoming Westside Village development on Marietta Boulevard, What Now Atlanta first reported.
Anita Hsu tells Eater Atlanta Amar Bien opens next spring for lunch and dinner and will be a full-service Mexican restaurant that emphasizes vegetables. It includes a full bar which opens onto a shared breezeway with a fire pit in the open-container complex.
Hsu describes Amar Bien’s design as “calm, bright and airy” with an open kitchen where diners can watch tortillas made fresh throughout the day.
“We are talking to a few chefs, but have not solidified who will be leading our culinary team yet,” Hsu says.
Eater reached back out for further clarification on the menu.
A third location of Desta Ethiopian Kitchen and an outpost of American steakhouse and grill chain Ted’s Montana Grill are also slated to open at Westside Village next year.
Sweet Auburn BBQ took over the former Pura Vida space in 2014 serving “Asian-inspired” barbecue. The Hsu’s brother, chef Ronald Hsu, opened Lazy Betty earlier this year. The tasting menu restaurant resides inside the former Radial Cafe space in Candler Park.
