It seems Tempo Doeloe Indonesian Food on Buford Highway closed for good on Thursday, October 31. The owners first mentioned the impending closure of their popular Indonesian market and counter-serve restaurant last Wednesday on Facebook with the announcement of a storewide clearance sale.
No official reason was given for the closure of either the market or restaurant, and it’s unclear if the owners plan to reopen elsewhere.
Located in Doraville’s Intown Plaza complex, the modest restaurant next door to the grocery followed halal guidelines and served Indonesian noodle, steamed rice, and meat and fish dishes. Tempo Doeloe was also a frequent stop for those seeking soups and stews, especially during the winter, like soto betawi made with coconut milk broth and garnished with green and fried onions and the oft-ordered soto mie with beef, rice noodles, tomatoes, and cabbage.
