Lagarde, a restaurant serving Cajun and New Orleans dishes, is open at Parkview on Peachtree in Chamblee. The restaurant, located along Peachtree Boulevard, is owned by chef Jamie Adams and Leonardo Moura of Sandy Springs Italian restaurant il Giallo Osteria & Bar. Lagarde is Adams’ middle name.
The 118-seat restaurant includes a large bar and a patio overlooking nearby Keswick Park at the complex. Three walls inside Lagarde are made of glass and Atlanta graffiti artists, Lotus Eaters Club, created a large mural depicting a New Orleans balcony featuring caricatures of Adams and Moura and “personified Louisiana animals.”
As for food, many dishes on the menu are based on family recipes from Adams’ childhood and trips to New Orleans (where his parents grew up.) This includes his mother’s andouille and shrimp gumbo, red beans and rice, and daube (braised brisket with crispy onions.) Look for other New Orleans classics such as po’boys, Gulf oysters, grits and grillade (grits topped with slow-cooked cuts of meat covered in red gravy,) and pecan pie and bread pudding for dessert.
Frozen drinks like the rum-based painkiller, adult milkshakes, and negroni slushies are on offer at the bar as well as a selection of local and New Orleans beers, plenty of bourbon and whiskey, and a list of sparkling wines.
