The East Lake location of Greater Good BBQ is closed, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Only the Tucker and Buckhead restaurants remain. A sign posted to the front door apparently asks customers to visit Greater Good’s other two locations, and Eater Atlanta confirmed that East Lake is no longer listed as a location on the restaurant’s website.
It’s the second outpost of the barbecue restaurant from Clay Harper and Mike Nelson (La Fonda Latina, Fellini’s Pizza) to close this year. The counter-serve location, next door to La Fonda on Howell Mill Road, closed this summer after being open a little over a year.
Greater Good first opened in Tucker seven years ago, followed by the Buckhead restaurant in 2013. The East Lake location on Hosea L. Williams Drive opened in 2016 and seemed to do steady business. The restaurant is known for its racks of ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, and pimento-barbecue potato skins smothered in pork or brisket.
Eater Atlanta reached out for more details on the closure.
This marks the second restaurant to close at the Hosea and Second development along Hosea L. Williams. Mary Hoopa’s House of Fried Chicken and Oysters closed after only a year at the complex. Japanese-Korean restaurant Salaryman took over the space in September. An outpost of Savannah-based coffee shop Perc Coffee Roasters opens next spring as part of the second phase of the development.
