Khanh Vietnamese Kitchen is opening in the former Our Way Cafe space in Avondale Estates, a little over a mile outside of downtown Decatur, according to What Now Atlanta. The restaurant, which plans to focus its menu on pho, should open in July. Our Way Cafe owner Eva-Marie Roswall announced last October she was retiring, thus closing the longtime meat-and-three after 30 years on East College Avenue.
Dinh Tran, who co-owns Khanh Vietnamese Pho and Sandwich with his family on Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth, says they plan to prepare the pho at the Avondale Estates restaurant as it’s done in Vietnam, where the broth begins cooking at 3 a.m. and noodles are made fresh daily. It’s unclear if this new restaurant will also offer banh mi, rice dishes, or other noodle soups, such as bun bo hue (a spicy soup made with beef.)
Tran and his family hope to open two new Khanh Vietnamese Kitchens each year over the next five years, starting with a second location in either Midtown or Buckhead. The restaurant is named for the family’s matriarch, Khanh Tran.
2831 East College Avenue, Avondale Estates.
