The Atlanta Food & Wine Festival moves its tasting tents to a new park

After an extremely muddy end to last year’s tasting tents at Piedmont Park due to storms throughout the weekend, the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival is apparently moving the tents to a new location — Historic Fourth Ward Park. It’s unclear, however, if the festival’s learning experiences and classes will remain at the Loews Atlanta hotel in Midtown or move to a new location closer to the tents. Early bird tickets to the festival, which takes place May 30 through June 2, go on sale March 15. This year’s “Off the Eaten Path” theme hopes to highlight “off-the-grid” restaurants, cuisine, and chefs from throughout the South. [Official]

Chef Keith Remes leaves 8Arm for Golden Eagle

After two years leading the kitchen at 8ARM on Ponce De Leon Avenue, Keith Remes is leaving to head the kitchen at dinner club and cocktail lounge Golden Eagle in Reynoldstown. It’s unclear who will replace Remes at 8Arm. Prior to 8Arm, Remes worked at Southbound in Chamblee and Local Three in Buckhead, before joining 8Arm owners Nhan Lee and the late Angus Brown to work at Octopus Bar in East Atlanta Village and Lusca in Brookwood Hills. Lusca shuttered in 2015. [EATL]

The restaurant now also offers a vegan taco option on the menu. The Impossible chorizo taco includes sautéd sofrito with fingerling potatoes topped with “Mexico City sauce” and avocado. [Facebook]

A new distillery is opening in Chamblee

The Distillery of Modern Art plans to open on Irvindale Way in Chamblee near the Chamblee MARTA station, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. The 15,000-square-foot building will house a distillery producing vodka, gin, whiskey, and possibly an amaro or herbal liqueur, a tasting room, a bar, and event and exhibition spaces. Owner Seth Watson plans to design the building itself as a piece of art — the form or exterior of the building will apparently change appearance from day to night. The distillery goes before the public in a hearing on March 14. [ABC]
