Ford Fry’s “Austin-inspired” taco and chicken al carbon restaurant Little Rey could finally open in April, according to a restaurant representative. Little Rey is located in the former Anchor Bar & Tattoo on Piedmont Avenue in Piedmont Heights.
The super casual, counter-service restaurant with a take-out window centers its menu around chicken al carbon (wood-roasted) and tacos, vegetable sides, fresh salsas and tortillas, and, of course, margaritas. Fry hopes to fill the breakfast taco void in the midtown neighborhood. This includes offering packs of various breakfast tacos in the morning as well as whole roasted chickens with fixings for dinner in the evenings, all part of Little Rey’s to-go service.
Fry’s last Atlanta opening was The El Felix at the Battery Atlanta in 2017— an OTP version of his ITP Tex-Mex restaurant Superica.

April should prove to be a good month for Fry, if all goes according to plan. In addition to Little Rey’s anticipated opening, his first cookbook drops April 23 — “Tex Mex: Traditions, Innovations, and Comfort Foods From Both Sides of the Border”.
Fry’s Atlanta restaurant roster includes: No. 246, The El Felix in Alpharetta and at the Battery, BeetleCat, Superica in Inman Park and Buckhead, Marcel, JCT. Kitchen & Bar, The Optimist, St. Cecilia, and King + Duke. He owns Superica, La Lucha, State of Grace, and hopes to open a seafood restaurant in his native Houston. Restaurants are also in the works for Nashville and Charlotte.
