Big Citizen restaurant group plans to open a new bar and art gallery downtown

It seems Big Citizen restaurant group (Bon Ton, The Lawrence, Miracle on Monroe) has set their sights on downtown Atlanta. They plan to open an art gallery and bar event space in a historic building on Broad Street, according to Atlanta Business Chronicle [ABC]. The yet-named bar, co-owned by longtime Atlanta barman Eric Simpkins, expects to be an “art and music inspired-bar, convention center, madhouse”. Eater Atlanta reached out for more details. The collaborative restaurant between Big Citizen and King of Pops called Wonderkid still hopes to open at the Atlanta Dairies in Reynoldstown later this summer. Cajun seafood restaurant opening on Ponce in Decatur

The Wild Crab plans to open in the former DaVinci’s Pizza restaurant in Decatur on Ponce De Leon, Decaturish reports. The restaurant, which has a location in Hiram, serves a menu of mostly Cajun seafood. Renovations are underway. The Decatur location of DaVinci’s closed in 2018, claiming their rent in the city was nearly $11,000 a month more than its restaurant location in Midtown on West Peachtree Street. [Decaturish]

Another bowling alley-restaurant mashup eyes prime Buckhead real estate

The Painted Pin and the Painted Duck, owned by Atlantans Justin Amick and William Stallworth, could have some in-town competition. Pinstripes, a two-story, bowling alley-restaurant mashup, might be eyeing Phipps Plaza for their next location, according to Tomorrow’s News Today. The Illinois-based “Bistro Bowling Bocce” chain could be part of the former Belk being revamped at the luxury mall along Peachtree and Lenox roads. Pinstripes offers wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, and pastas on the menu. [ToNT]
