Sandy Springs’ Breadwinner Cafe and Bakery replaces longtime (and much loved) Wright Gourmet Sandwich Shoppe in Dunwoody Village, according to a Facebook post on Friday. The post simply reads, “Hello, Dunwoody!! Let’s get Loafed and Ladled! We’ll see you late summer 2019!”
Breadwinner, owned by Geoff and Katie Melkonian, who also own Farm to Ladle inside Ponce City Market and at Avalon in Alpharetta, opened in 2010. The shop sells soups, salads and sandwiches on its menu, in addition to a variety of breads and baked goods, and offers catering.
Wright Gourmet closed in February after 35 years in Dunwoody Village. While an exact reason for the closure of the popular sandwich shop was never given, sources indicate business was down, possibly due to increased competition from nearby restaurants and markets.
