Popular Chamblee dim sum and Chinese restaurant Royal China is moving 18 miles north to Duluth in Gwinnett County, What Now Atlanta reports.
The restaurant closed earlier this month to the dismay of at least one Yelper who found a note taped to the door informing diners of the move. Royal China plans to reopen at the end of April in the former Golfsmith shop on Venture Drive near Costco.
As for why the owners decided to pull up stakes in Chamblee for Duluth, a manager for Royal China says, “We have been planning this move for a long time. It’s a much better location.”
The relocation to Duluth is likely a welcomed restaurant addition for residents of the north Atlanta suburban city. However, regulars to the restaurant once located on Chamblee Dunwoody Road near Buford Highway will probably seek dim sum options closer to Atlanta — especially on the weekend which often saw long waits for tables in Royal China’s dining room.
