Edgewood Pizza — the self-proclaimed home of “king slices” — plans to open a second location in West End, What Now Atlanta first reported. The Old Fourth Ward (O4W) pizzeria filed two permits with city of Atlanta on Friday to begin construction at the Sky Lofts complex on Oak Street near the West End Mall.
The Edgewood Avenue pizzeria closed for over a year after sustaining heavy damage following an electrical fire in August 2013. It reopened for king slices, calzones, and wings in January 2015.
During the Super Bowl, local artist Fabian Williams (Occasional Superstar), along with a handful of street artists, painted murals of NFL quarterback and activist Colin Kaepernick on buildings and restaurants across the city. Edgewood Pizza and Sister Louisa’s Church of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium each commissioned murals for their restaurants as part of the weekend-long #KaeperBowl.
Eater Atlanta reached out for more details on the forthcoming location.
898 Oak Street SW, Atlanta.
