A new speakeasy-style bar called Cardinal from the owners of neighborhood market Third Street Goods is open, according to social media posts and Invest Atlanta. Holli Medley and Kathryn DiMenichi, who met when working as bartenders, opened Third Street Goods earlier this year, hoping to combine the local aspect of a farmers market with the convenience of a big-name grocery store.
The new bar is located at 1039 Grant Street, Suite B40, and is accessible through Third Street Goods’ patio; official hours haven’t yet been posted on the website. Third Street’s patio is open to only those 21 and up after 6 p.m.
The market’s name is a nod to the street DiMenichi’s great-grandparents lived on. Medley told Invest Atlanta that the bar’s name pays homage to their ancestors. Medley says when a cardinal appears, it means “someone is looking out for you and that everything will be okay.” That’s the feeling they’re trying to evoke with their new bar, which they hope to be a welcoming oasis.
