Bell Street Burritos closed its Sweet Auburn Curb Market stall last Friday after nine years, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Owner Matt Hinton, a former Morehouse and Spelman religion professor, opened the market stall in 2010 after spending much of the 2008-2009 recession delivering burritos. Both schools experienced a drop in enrollment during the recession. Sweet Auburn Curb Market serves as an incubator for new food producers and entrepreneurs.

“We are not simply closing the shop but we are moving the operation to a new location — our first shop outside the Perimeter in Tucker,” the post states. “If you have been paying attention, you know that Tucker, Georgia is killing it right now and Bell Street is very happy to begin a new thing there.”

Hinton announced last summer he was opening a Bell Street in Tucker on Lawrenceville Highway. This latest location takes over the former El Tapatio Mexican restaurant and should open in July.

Bell Street Burritos has restaurants in Buckhead on Peachtree Street and at the Stove Works in the Old Fourth Ward, across from SPX Alley on the Beltline.
