Brewpub Sceptre Brewing Arts opens tonight at 5 p.m. in Oakhurst, the AJC reports. It’s owned by Armando Celentano, Benjamin Rhoades, and Donald Durant of East Atlanta Village pub Argosy. The Oakhurst pub includes a tasting room and bar with up to 20 taps and a dining room as well as a patio and beer garden.
Brewmaster Trevor Jones has created seven to eight beers so far for Sceptre — like a “supper ale” or “table beer” and dry-hopped culture ales — using mainly Georgia grown ingredients. Nitro iced coffee, ginger beer, draft wine, cocktails, and other local beers are included on the drinks menu.
As for food, expect a “Southern picnic” of dishes including charcuterie from local butcher the Spotted Trotter, smoked trout dip, mesquite frites, a cheeseburger on a Hawaiian roll, fish and chips, and a jar of chicken salad served with a side of Saltines.
Scepter is currently open from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. daily over the next two weeks. Plans to expand those hours from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. should occur some time in July, with a sort of happy hour and special snacks offered from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
630 East Lake Drive, Oakhurst, Decatur.
