JenChan’s Supper Delivery Club secured a lease earlier this week for the former Mouth of the South restaurant space on Carroll Street in Cabbagetown. It appears owners Jen Chan and Emily Chan’s dream to transform their “mostly Southern, mainly Asian” prepared meals service into a restaurant within their neighborhood could be underway.
Details are scare but, Emily Chan tells Eater Atlanta, “We hope to bring something familiar and inclusive and relaxed and groovy and really damn tasty to everyone. We will be more than a home base for our delivery service.”
Chan says people can expect JenChan’s menu of meal options to remain relatively unchanged on Carroll Street. Think summer rolls stuffed with shrimp, vegetables, and mango, Chinese fried chicken wings, black bean spare ribs, potstickers, ricotta meatballs, and lasagna.
JenChan’s is currently based from shared commercial kitchen facility PREP Atlanta, which helps fledgling food businesses and future restaurants get off the ground.
The couple’s shared love of cooking and hosting dinners served as inspiration for JenChan’s. Fully-prepared meals for up to eight people, soups, and appetizers are ordered online, with deliveries taking place the following Tuesday and Wednesday.
“We are in love with our community and our neighborhood where we live, and now get to work [here] as well. How exciting is that,” Chan adds.
The Chan’s have also been popping up occasionally down the street from their future home base at Little’s Food Store for dumplings, spare ribs, rolls, and wings.
Mouth of the South closed in June, less than a year after opening in what was once Cabbage Pie pizzeria on Carroll Street. The restaurant offered sandwiches like smoked brisket and a vegan eggplant bacon, lettuce, and tomato, wings, and salads on its menu.
