Ohio-based Cathy’s Gourmet Ice Cream Sandwiches joins previously announced Velvet Taco next fall at the Interlock, currently under construction across from Westside Provisions District.
The 200,000-square-foot mixed-use development incorporates an entire city block at one of the most traffic-clogged intersections on Atlanta’s west side — Howell Mill Road and 14th Street.
Cathy’s first opened in Cleveland in 2018. It offers 14 ice cream flavors, including key lime and banana pudding, sandwiched between seven from-scratch cookies, like ginger molasses, snickerdoodle, and peanut butter. Customers build their sandwiches by choosing a cookie and ice cream, then add toppings such as fruity pebbles or caramel or chocolate sauce.
Owner Catheryn Greene decided to open her second shop in Atlanta after she “fell in love” with the city while attending Spelman College.
In addition to Cathy’s and Velvet Taco, St. Germain’s French Bakery will also open at the complex. Slater Hospitality (Ponce City Market’s Nine Mile Station, Skyline Park, RFD Social) opens its two-story restaurant and outdoor bar called The Grove on the roof of the Interlock.
