More hot chicken heads to Atlanta by the fall — and this time it’s from Kentucky, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Joella’s Hot Chicken plans to open four new restaurants in metro Atlanta: Cumberland area on Cobb Parkway, Kennesaw, Woodstock, and Newnan in south metro Atlanta.

The menu includes wings, jumbo tenders, quarter and half birds, and a soy-based vegan “chicken” made from peas, carrots, beetroots, and potatoes. Joella’s chicken comes in six levels of heat, ranging from “Southern: no heat, like mom used to make” to “Fire-in-da-hole: inferno, will light you up.”

Expect to find typical Southern sides here like collards, mac and cheese, and green beans with bacon and sandwiches such as a hot chicken topped with pimento cheese as well as banana pudding and “pies” contained in Mason jars for dessert.

Joella’s, founded in 2015, includes eight other locations in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana.
