Restaurateur and comedian Kwaylon “Blameitonkway” Rogers opens his next Krab Queenz location on Saturday, August 17, according to a press release. The Louisiana seafood boil restaurant and daiquiri bar resides in the former Gladys Knights Chicken & Waffles space on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta.
The grand opening kicks off Saturday at 1 p.m. with a New Orleans-style second line band, a mini parade, and guest appearances by rapper Pastor Troy, Love and Hip Hop star Mimi Faust, and hip hop duo the Ying Yang Twins, a restaurant representative tells Eater Atlanta. There’s a chance Real Housewives of Atlanta star and Atlanta restaurateur Kandi Burruss makes an appearance, along with a few other surprise celebrity guests.
Krab Queenz’s menu centers around by-the-pound or plate, butter-soaked seafood boils consisting of king crab legs, crawfish, and jumbo shrimp served with sausage links, potatoes, and corn. Seafood comes served with a variety of butters, including honey garlic, barbecue, and spicy in varying degrees of heat (mild to “hot as hell”.)
A selection of daiquiris come served in 16-ounce cups, jugs, pitchers, and even light bulbs.
“I am super excited to be bringing our signature flavored Krab legs and seafood to ATL. We spell Krab with a K because of the kick of soul inside the flavors,” Rogers says in a prepared statement. “But we’re more than just krabs and good seafood, we’re a vibe. Our restaurants are safe havens for food, fellowship and just a damn good time.”
