After a successful Kickstarter campaign last April and nearly a year of scouting out potential locations, beer educator Jen Price signed a lease for her bottle shop and growler bar, the Atlanta Beer Boutique, in Glenwood Park. Price tells Eater Atlanta she hopes to open by November on Glenwood Avenue, near 3 Parks Wine shop and across from Gunshow.
Price has been documenting her journey to #buildtheboutique via a series of videos posted to Instagram and Facebook and in her newsletter.
The retail portion of the Atlanta Beer Boutique will feature mainly local and Georgia-brewed beers as well as a selection of beers from around the world, a market selling glassware, spices, and other beer-related goods, a small kitchen, and a growler bar for customers to sip pints on site and purchase and refill growlers. The bar area also converts to a classroom and events space where Price plans to hold weekly tastings, classes, and workshops.
“I knew I wanted a shop eventually, so I started out doing beer events, classes, and workshops while blogging about beer,” Price told Eater last July. “I took the love I have for community and educating people from my planning career and applied it to my passion for beer.”
Price hopes the boutique provides people, in particular women, with hands-on opportunities to learn more about beer and home brewing, while also making beer more inclusive and accessible.
Price holds bachelor degrees in mathematics and civil engineering and a masters degree in city planning. Her love of beer prompted her to begin writing about and further educating herself on beer styles and brewing techniques. This eventually lead to Price hosting tasting events and brewing workshops around Atlanta and writing her first book, “The Chick’s Guide To Beer”.
