Cremalosa gelato shop opening in Decatur this fall
Gelato master and former AJC dining critic Meridith Ford opens her gelato shop called Cremalosa this fall at the Cortland Decatur East development on East College Avenue, across from the Avondale MARTA station. The shop plans to carry a dozen flavors of gelato ranging from stracciatella and pistachio and banana pudding to lemon meringue pie and hummingbird cake. Boozy shakes such as the “Elvis” made with banana pudding gelato, peanut butter, bourbon, vanilla wafers, whipped cream, and bacon as well as alcohol-infused affogatos, beer, and wine are also on the menu. Local fried chicken restaurant Bantam + Biddy opening at Hartsfield-Jackson
An airport outpost of Atlanta chef Shaun Doty’s Bantam + Biddy fried chicken restaurant opens October 8 in the atrium of concourse C at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the AJC reports. Unlike most of the food offerings on the concourse, Doty says his is an actual full-service restaurant and includes a list of the “greatest hits of Bantam” on the menu. Doty says he’s also converting his Atlantic Station Chick-a-Biddy into a Bantam + Biddy and will open another location on Amelia Island in Florida. [AJC]
“Healthy breakfast and lunch” restaurant Apron + Ladle opening at City Walk in Sandy Springs
Apron + Ladle, a “healthy breakfast and lunch” restaurant from Teela Taqueria and Fishmonger Seafood Grill’s Nik Panagopoulos and Artie Antoniade, opens in their former seafood joint, Tin Can Fish House, on Wednesday, September 11. The new City Walk restaurant includes a main dining room and a counter service cafe for grab-and-go items. Apron + Ladle serves dishes like a fried chicken benedict and pecan smoked bacon and fried green tomato, granola bowls, curried chicken salad sandwiches, and a grilled salmon wrap. The restaurant opens at 7 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends. [Official]
A Chastain Park location of Gusto! is coming
Bowl and wrap fast-casual restaurant gusto! from former NFL quarterback Nate Hybl opens in the Cheeseburger Bobby’s space at the Roswell-Wieuca Shopping Center on Roswell Road early next year. The Chamblee location should open later this month on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near the Whole Foods. That restaurant becomes the first gusto! to include a drive-thru window. gusto! has locations on Peachtree Road in Buckhead, on Ponce De Leon Avenue, in Decatur, and on 17th Street at Northside Drive. A poke bar joins the mix at Atlantic Station in Midtown
PokéBar opened last week at Atlantic Station in Midtown. The DIY poke restaurant is located on 18th Street between NaanStop and Japanese barbecue restaurant Gyu-Kaku. PokéBar serves a variety of poke and rice bowls on its menu along with milk and fruit bubble teas. [Official]
