A second location of Queen of Cream, the Old Fourth Ward ice cream shop owned by pastry chef Cora Cotrim, opens Wednesday, September 18, at Plaza on Ponce. The new, much smaller shop is located between Insomnia Cookies and the Majestic diner on Cleburne Terrace.
This Saturday, September 21, the Plaza shop will offer dollar scoops to the first 200 customers.
“We’ll be opening with a full menu with September flavors such as Tres Leches Cake, S’mores, and Mango Coconut,” Cotrim tells Eater Atlanta. “We’ll also have milkshakes, matcha shakes, and cold brew shakes, fresh-made waffle cones, sundaes, and more.”
Queen of Cream produces all of their ice creams from scratch using dairy sourced from a family-run farm in Waynesboro, Georgia to create flavors like lavender honeycomb and sprinkle cookie as well as vegan options such as black pearl, made from coconut milk and coconut ash.

Cotrim teamed up with Revelator Coffee Company earlier this year to open dessert cafe and candy store Sweet Tooth Cafe at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. The cafe serves coffee, plated desserts, ice cream, cakes and tarts, and includes a large sweets section selling marshmallows, toffee, gummy candies, and Atlanta-based Xocolatl chocolates.
In addition to Queen of Cream, LA import Jinya Ramen Bar and cocktail bar Southern Belle and chefs counter Georgia Boy from former Gunshow executive chef Joey Ward open in the Plaza complex later this fall.
