A South American cafe and wine bar called El Viñedo Local opens on Peachtree Street, one block north of the Fox Theatre early next year.
El Viñedo Local or “the Local Vineyard”, owned by Robert Kaster, plans to serve “South American inspired wine, coffee, and small plates” and hopes to “fit in effortlessly” with Midtown’s bar and restaurant scene. The area often plays host to people in town for shows at the Fox as well as students from nearby Georgia Tech.
Dishes likely to make the menu include empanadas and ceviche as well as other “Latin” fare meant to pair well with wine.
The restaurant should open for coffee and breakfast in the morning before transitioning into wine and dinner in the evenings. El Viñedo Local plans to remain open late for post-theater drinks.
Kaster spent nearly two decades working in food and beverage management for Hilton Hotels. Over the last two years, he has worked in the wine industry and considers El Viñedo Local a “passion project.”
“Every wine has a story, we all have stories, this will be a place to share both,” Kaster says in the press release.
Eater Atlanta reached out to Kaster for more details.
El Viñedo Local joins forthcoming Midtown restaurant Lyla Lila from restauranteur Billy Streck (Hampton + Hudson, Nina & Rafi, Cypress Street Pint & Plate) and former St. Cecilia chef Craig Richards. Lyla Lila should open by November in the Lilli Midtown apartment building on Peachtree with a menu focusing on southern European cuisine.
