Chef Chris Hall, Ryan Turner, and Todd Mussman, the owners of restaurant and whiskey bar Local Three and neighborhood bistro Muss & Turner’s and its speakeasy Eleanor’s, plan to open a pizzeria in Smyrna this fall.
Other than the name, the website for MTH Pizza (an acronym for Mussman, Turner, and Hall) yields few details on what the Unsukay restaurant group partners call a “neighborhood pizzeria”.
A restaurant representative tells Eater Atlanta they have “not released details on the style” of pizza MTH will serve, but confirmed the pizzeria resides in the Ivy Walk complex — the same complex as Muss & Turner’s on Cumberland Parkway. More details will be provided in the “coming weeks.” However, sources indicate MTH Pizza may open in the former Little Azio pizza restaurant at Ivy Walk.
Hall, Mussman, and Turner opened the original Muss & Turner’s on Cumberland Parkway in 2005, followed by Local Three Kitchen & Bar on Northside Parkway five years later. The partners then opened Southern restaurant Common Quarter on Johnson Ferry Road in 2013. In 2017, Common Quarter was replaced by a second location of Muss & Turner’s. It closed last year.
The partners co-founded restaurant non-profit Giving Kitchen, which provides crisis grants and assistance to restaurant workers throughout metro Atlanta and Athens. In March, Turner accepted the James Beard foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year award for Giving Kitchen alongside co-founder Jen Hidinger-Kendrick and executive director Bryan Schroeder.
Possible location 1675 Cumberland Parkway, #415, Smyrna. mthpizza.com.
