Dallas-based Velvet Taco opens Monday, September 9, at the Whole Foods-anchored Buckhead Market Place after permitting issues caused the previously predicted late August opening to be delayed.
The all-day (and all-night) restaurant on West Paces Ferry Road serves tacos such as spicy tikka masala, Nashville hot cauliflower, and Korean pork on its menu. In addition to its daily taco selections, Velvet Taco offers weekly taco specials, red velvet cake for dessert, and a “secret” takeout chicken meal. That $20 “backdoor” chicken deal includes a whole rotisserie yardbird, two sides of street corn, six corn tortillas, pico de gallo, and hot sauce. The to-go meal is only $10 on Mondays.

Local and Mexican beers are on tap and in cans at the bar, along with margaritas and fruit-infused ice teas. People place their orders at the counter and take a seat at one of the communal tables in the dining room or on the patio.
A second Velvet Taco opens next year at the Interlock complex across from Westside Provisions District on Howell Mill Road.
