A fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. this morning at popular Buford Highway Colombian restaurant Las Delicias de La Abuela on Buford Highway in Doraville, 11Alive and WSB-TV report. Three staff members were inside the restaurant prepping for breakfast service when the fire began. They escaped unharmed.
The fire apparently started around the bar, according to DeKalb County Fire Captain Dion Bentley. It was quickly contained and caused fire, smoke, and water damage to the interior of the building. The bar seems to be the hardest hit area of the restaurant. No word on what sparked the blaze.
A message posted to the restaurant’s Facebook page indicates the Doraville location is closed “temporarily” due to a fire “at dawn” but that its Duluth outpost remains open.
