Holiday bar pop-up Miracle adds the historic Fox Theatre on Peachtree Street to the line-up of locations in Atlanta this year. Dubbed Miracle at the Fox Theatre’s Marquee Club Presented by Lexus, the kitschy Christmas-themed pop-up takes up residence in the theater’s swanky club. Miracle kicks off at the Fox on Friday, November 20, and runs through Friday, January 1, 2021.
Unlike its four other Atlanta locations, Miracle at the Fox Theatre is ticketed in order to limit capacity at the pop-up, maxing out at 76 people per 90-minute time slot. Tables will be spaced six feet apart and feature plexiglass dividers. People attending Miracle at the Fox Theatre will be required to have their temperatures taken prior to entry and must wear masks when not seated at a table or speaking to staff. Tables can be reserved for up to eight people. The full Miracle cocktail and food menu will be available for purchase via a contactless payment system.
“The Fox Theatre’s Marquee Club is a dream venue and the perfect location for Miracle to expand with a new type of experience, especially in today’s health climate,” Big Citizen restaurant group co-founder Eric Simpkins says in a prepared statement. “This ticketed offering allows us to social distance, limit capacity, create unique holiday moments paired with all the signature Christmas cocktails and cheer while prioritizing the safety of everyone.”
The 10,000-square-foot Marquee Club at the Fox Theatre features five bars on multiple levels, a rooftop terrace overlooking Peachtree Street, and a dedicated elevator.
This year sees Miracle returning for another round of Christmas cocktails at Inman Park restaurant The Brasserie and Neighborhood Café at Parish on North Highland Avenue and at its brand new Atlanta Dairies location, Wonderkid on Memorial Drive in Reynoldstown. Miracle’s tiki-themed counterpart Sippin’ Santa takes over Midtown Viet-Cajun restaurant Bon Ton again, and pops up for the first time at Golden Eagle, just east of Miracle at Wonderkid.
In addition to Wonderkid’s patio, Atlanta Dairies is allowing Miracle to create a “Christmas district” outside in the property’s greenspace. Logistics for Miracle on Highland are still in the works, but could include the restaurant’s downstairs cafe and grassy area along the Eastside Beltline trail, complete with fire pits and blankets. All four locations will require masks, offer more outdoor seating options, reduce capacity, and include time limits on tables.
The decision to depart Tapa Tapa in Midtown — Miracle’s home base since 2016 — came down to a lack of space and no outdoor seating.
Bringing the wildly popular Miracle bar to the Marquee Club follows an extremely rough year for theaters across the country and the departure of Atlanta Ballet’s annual (and extremely lucrative) production of the Nutcracker after 25 years and more than 500 performances at the Fox Theatre. The Christmas classic was to be performed at the Cobb Energy Center this year. However, the production is now being filmed and will be shown as a drive-in movie experience due to the pandemic.
