Alabama-based coffee shop and roastery Prevail Roasters recently opened at the new Star Metals development on Howell Mill Road near Northside Tavern and Westside Provisions District. The coffee shop, located on the ground floor residence lobby of the complex, features indoor and outdoor seating and eventually the option to preorder online.
Misha Tobler, whose previous work on the Atlanta coffee scene includes stints at Octane and Empire State South, serves as both manager and a barista for the Atlanta shop.
Prevail serves a variety of coffee and coffee drinks on its menu, using beans harvested from small farms in Africa, Papua New Guinea, and Central America. The nonprofit Kula Project, which provides resources, training, and entrepreneurial opportunities for women living in impoverished areas of the world, produces Prevail’s Rwandan coffee blend. Many of the women Kula Project provides fellowship assistance to are coffee growers. Prevail CEO Wade Preston sits on the board of the nonprofit.
