Saito – Sushi, Steak, and Cocktails opens in downtown Atlanta by late-December
Red Phone Booth and Amalfi Pizza owners Stephen de Haan and Greg Grant, along with master sushi chef Saito Saito open their long-awaited restaurant Saito: Sushi, Steak, and Cocktails by the end of the year, according to a press statement. The 2,200-square-foot restaurant resides in the lobby of the century-old Regenstein’s department store building, now known as the Department Building. Saito Sushi includes an outdoor terrace with removable glass walls and features a menu of sushi using fish flown in daily from Japan as well as fresh cut steaks. The bar offers cocktails with Japanese ingredients such as yuzu and shiso. Some cocktails incorporate rare Japanese whiskeys served over “double reverse osmosis ice” pressed into a sphere using a Taisin ice mold. [Official]

Justin Lim, the owner of Sandy Springs ramen restaurant Okiboru, opens his first hot chicken restaurant on December 4. Situated along Roswell Road in Sandy Springs, Scoville Hot Chicken takes inspiration from Lim’s experiences eating at Howlin’ Ray’s restaurant in Los Angeles. He says his initial visit to Howlin’ Rays had him standing in line for nearly three hours for a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. He was so “blown away” by it, Lim met with chef and owner Johnny Ray Zone. That meeting led to Lim traveling throughout Los Angeles and to Nashville to eat at various hot chicken restaurants and his decision to open Scoville Hot Chicken in Atlanta. Currently, the menu features just one hot chicken sandwich served with Scoville hot sauce, fries, and cole slaw. A second location opens by mid-December in Athens, Georgia. Open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Order takeout or delivery via Doordash, Grubhub, Postmates, and UberEats. [Official]
