A second Atlanta location of Chicago restaurateur Donna Lee’s Brown Bag Seafood Company opens early next year at Westside Provisions District. Lee opened her first Atlanta location in September at Colony Square in Midtown.
The counter-service spot, serving sustainable seafood as salads, tacos, sandwiches, and grain bowls, opens in the former Little Star cafe space, between Jeni’s Ice Cream and home design store Serena and Lily. Lee works with local seafood distributors for the restaurant’s “sustainably sourced seafood” menu, which has been approved by Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch.
Customers order at the counter, marking their fish or protein of choice, how they want it served (bowl, taco, sandwich,) and a choice of sides with dry erase markers on reusable menus. Brown Bag Seafood Company also offers soups and larger entrees, like a lobster roll, fish and chips, and a seafood dinner plate, along with vegetarian, dairy-free, and gluten-free dishes.
The Westside Provisions District location features seating for 15 people inside and additional seating for 20 people outside in front of and along the side of the restaurant. Brown Bag Seafood Company plans to open daily for lunch and dinner and offer dine-in service, takeout, and curbside pick-up at the Howell Mill Road complex.
Lee founded Brown Bag Seafood Company in 2014, which now includes nine locations between Chicago and Atlanta. Lee plans to remain actively involved at the Atlanta restaurants for the next several months.
